Solid fuels boilers inovation
Kadlík, Libor ; Štelcl, Otakar (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with combustion in solid fuels boilers. The thesis is divided into three parts. In first part is described sorting and characteristic of solid fuels, types of solid fuels boilers and technology of combustion. In second part are introduced legislative requirements of harmful emissions and responsibility of solid fuels boilers dealers and operators. Final part is concerned with innovations, which are necessary to more effective and less harmful combustion.
Přínos elektricky poháněných osobních automobilů pro snížení emisí oxidu uhličitého ve městech
VOTRUBA, Michaela Hana
Master's thesis deals with the issue of air pollution, to which automobile transport contri- butes extensively. Poor air quality has adverse effects on the health of every human being on Earth, so it is important to work constantly to reduce the emission footprint we leave behind. It is road transport that has a lot of room for improvement. The aim of thesis was to calculate the amount of CO2 produced by passenger cars on a selected section of the road in České Budějovice. And then calculate the amount of CO2, which would leave the same number of electric cars in the same driving section.
Substances present in everyday life representing threats to the health of older-school-age children
Metelková, Iva ; Marádová, Eva (advisor) ; Beneš, Pavel (referee)
TITLE: Substances present in every day life representing threats to the health of older- shool-age children AUTHOR: Iva Metelková DEPARTMENT: Department of Education SUPERVISOR: PaedDr. Eva Marádová, CSc. ABSTRACT This thesis deals with the substances present in everyday life, which may pose risk for human health. In the theoretical part of this work groups of hazardous substances are characterized. For selected representatives of each group are specified. negative impacts on human health and outlines the mechanisms of action. Individual chapter is devoted to physical and psycho-social development of school age students using knowledge of developmental psychology. Substances which on the other way help detoxify the body and help it to be resistant to the effects of potentially hazardous substances are also mentioned. The aim is to map the practical awareness of the hazardous effects of selected substances among pupils attending upper primary school. Questionnaire survey found that students do not attach danger arising from the presence of potentially hazardous substances in foods, cosmeticsand household. Therefore I recommend pay attention to information about risks arising from long term exposure to these substances. KEY WORDS: harmful substance, health protection, food hazards, drugs

Stanovení základních emisí z výfuků osobních vozidel ve vybraných úsecích dopravní trasy
KAHUDA, Jan
This diploma thesis deals with the issue of environmental pollution caused by the production of harmful substances originated from the automobile combustion engines and the calculation of production of basic pollutants emitted from the passenger car exhausts travelling on selected sections of transport route. The aim of the work was to calculate the amount of emitted harmful substances, according to the composition of the vehicle fleet on some selected monitored sections of transport routes. For analysis were selected three stretches of roads in České Budějovice. The analysis considered the vehicle fleet composition, determination of traffic intensity, average speed of vehicles and traffic fluency on the transport routes. The calculated values were obtained using the special software MEFA 13

Dopady silniční dopravy na stav životního prostředí ve městě Brně a možnosti jejich řešení
Zanetti, Roberto
This bachelor thesis deals with impacts of road traffic on environment in Brno and tries to find its causes and consequences. The objective of the thesis is to map density of road traffic, attitude of population towards current traffic situation and environment including possible solutions. I focused on particular problematic areas and did a field research. Researched problem was processed through qualitative survey with experts and quantitative survey using questionnaires. I processed data via statistical formulas in Excel program and I put the evaluation in graphs. Benefit of the thesis is mapping current traffic situation in Brno including its risky areas and evaluation of the most stressed areas and evaluation of air quality over the past years. Based on the survey data there is a possibility to improve current traffic situation and improve environment in Brno itself.
Transport kovů v systému půda - rostlina
Kleckerová, Andrea
Transport of cadmium, mercury and lead from soil to plants was studied in urban area of Brno city. Five sites with different levels of contamination loading, with high traffic density, industrial production and population density were selected. The total contents of cadmium, lead and mercury in soils and plants (dandelion - Taraxacum officinale) were determined. Dandelion plants were used as biomonitoring organisms of environmental pollution. For the assessment of bioavailable metal forms, single extraction procedures, diffusive gradient in thin films technique (DGT) were used. The obtained results were correlated with metal contens in plants. In the second part, the leachability of cadmium, lead and zinc in samples of agricultural soils, highly contaminated by atmospheric deposition of two smelters in northern France, were investigated. The total contents of cadmium, lead and zinc in soils and plants (Miscanthus giganteus) were determined. Miscanthus plants were used as experimental fytoremediation plants. Pseudototal contents were compared with results from fractionation analysis obtained by sequential extractions, with bioaccessible contents determinated by UBM test (Unified Barge Method, in vitro test) and with bioavailable metal contents determined by diffusive gradient in thin films technique (DGT).
Effect of chosen substances in food of animal origin in development of lifestyle diseases
ZÁHORKOVÁ, Jana
This bachelor thesis is devoted to the effect of harmful substances found in animal foods that affect the development of civilization diseases. Fish can contain carcinogenic substances, such as polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs), polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs), pesticides, methylmercury and lead. Higher consumption of red meat and meat products increases the risk of cancer. It can be caused by heme content or substances given into the food during heat treatment or preservative treatment of meat. These compounds include heterocyclic amines (HCA), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), N-nitrosocompounds (NOC), nitrates and nitrites. High intake of fat containing saturated fatty acids (SFA) and trans-unsaturated fatty acids (TFA), increases the risk of obesity, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus and cancer.
